Darius: Successor to Cyrus on the throne of Persia, Medea and Babylon. It was under the direction of King Darius that the work of rebuilding the Temple at Jerusalem was begun under the direction of Haggai and Zechariah, who found it necessary to continue to urge Zerubbabel to the task of reconstruction.
